In order to make an open-sourced tool computing truly open-sourced, it's advantageous to not require additional and obscure software. Instead, it should take advantage of popular and preexisting computer applications. The Climada tool can be uses several ubiquitous platforms--MATLAB, GNU Octave, GitHub, and Excel-- and in turn allows for high amounts of accessibility.
