Problem DescriptionThis solution was created to share about the importance of collaboration and multi-stakeholder partnership in achieving a common goal, which is to contribute in achieving the SDGs for a better Indonesia. This solution also shows the role of goal no 17: partnership which is indeed important as means of implementation. The activities of philanthropy and business had not been recorded during the MDGs. Therefore, on a global level the SDG Philanthropy Platform - SDG PP was created with Indonesia as one of the pilot country. At the same year, UN Global Compact and World Council for Sustainable Business Development also pledge their commitment to participate in achieving the SDGs. In Indonesia, the philanthropy and business sector decided to collaborate by establishing the Forum 'Filantropi dan Bisnis. SDGs for a better Indonesia' (FBI4SDGs) on March 3, 2016.
In Indonesia, the philanthropy and business sector decided to collaborate by creating the Forum 'Filantropi dan Bisnis - SDGs for a better Indonesia' (Forum Philanthropy and Business - SDGs for a better Indonesia). The Forum was established March 3, 2016 by Filantropi Indonesia (Indonesian Philanthropy Association), UN Global Compact Indonesia Network, Indonesian Business Coalition for Sustainable Development - IBCSD) and Indonesian Chamber of Commerce - KADIN. The four Associations initiated discussion with Indonesian National Development & Planning Ministry - BAPPENAS, and SDG Secretariat to discuss philanthropy and business possible role and contribution towards SDGs. By now the Forum has gain membership up to 11 Associations which in total represent over 700 foundations and companies in Indonesia. Further on the Forum will be officially included in the SDG National Coordination Team.
Regular meetings will be attended by members; with BAPPENAS/Ministery of National Planning and Development and SDG Secretariat to provide advice.
Six (6) working groups were established focusing on 1. SDG tools development 2. best practice 3. deepening understanding 4. emerging awareness 5. localizing SDGs at province and district level and 6. advocacy & regulation. Each working group is lead by two to three associations who are considered strong in that particular area. Each working group will conduct their own meetings and activities and reports during the bi-weekly regular meeting.
Whenever needed, experts who are non-members can be invited to working group meetings and activities to provide their expertise including from other sectors such as civil society organizations, academia and media, international agencies and donors.
