Snowland Great Rivers Environment Protection Association

This solution addresses the effects of climate change and unsustainable agriculture in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau for communities, environment, farmers

Problem Description

Occupying an area of 363,000 square kilometres and situated 4,000 metres above sea level, the remote Sanjiangyuan area of the southern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau area is home to a diverse array of natural habitats - including lakes, rivers, pastures, forests and wetlands. The effects of global warming have had a significant impact on the local environment, and unsustainable practices have contributed to the degradation of land and the endangerment of many rare species of plants and animals. Established in 2002, the Snow Land Great Rivers Environmental Association is a community-led NGO seeking to foster environmental protection to combat these impacts.
